It was great to be back at the Black Lantern for another special event! This time it was for Blakeley and Nick’s BEAUTIFUL wedding!
Blakeley, her mom, sister and friends made these creative “Sending you s’more love” wedding favors that fit with their fun theme. The adorable tags were purchased off of Etsy. You can find the coolest things on that site!
It’s probably difficult to see, but there is a cute little tree frog on the cabin above the dress. We didn’t bother to move him…
Blakeley loved having her hair and makeup done first earlier in the day. It gave her a chance to sit back, drink a mimosa, and enjoy watching everyone else getting ready. I highly recommend doing it this way to all of my brides. That way you don’t have to feel stressed and rushed as you get dolled up for the best day of your life!
She thought Nick would be the first to cry…but she beat him to it!
I know I mentioned this in their sneak peek, but he really adores his bride. Every time he looked at her he seemed so twitterpated.
It is ALWAYS fun to vary the shades and colors of bridesmaid dresses! I also love the popularity of the navy suits this year! They are so dapper!
These two are blessed by an abundance of family and friends!
The Black Lantern is such a special place to get married!
Blakeley and Nick, your wedding turned out awesome! I especially love how Nick stopped at the skate park the morning of after picking up the flowers! The day was all about you two, and I loved all the details that made it that way. I wish you the best in everything!

What a sweet couple! Sarah and Ben’s day was absolutely gorgeous! Bemidji Town and Country Club was the perfect location for all of their pictures and for their celebration!
Sarah and Ben choose romantic shades of pinks interlaced with gold sparkles for all of their details and decor.
I love it when the girls get matching robes! It always makes for fun pictures!
The bride and groom wrote letters to each other to read before the first look. It was a special and romantic way to start their day.
The first time they saw one another on their wedding day!
The wildfires in Canada have been causing air quality alerts in our area. The smoke that blew down from our northern neighbor actually provided a unique opportunity for pictures. The haze it cast over Lake Bemidji was almost ethereal. These images ended up being my favorite images from the day.
Talk about a fun bridal party! Ben and Sarah were surrounded by so many awesome friends and family on their special day. These two are definitely loved!
The Bemidji Town and Country Club looked beautiful for the reception!
Golden hour pictures are always a must!!
I have another beautiful summer wedding on Lake Bemidji to share with you! Heather and Chance had an amazing day celebrating their love!
Heather’s daughter wore this adorable little white dress! I love how both dresses had such gorgeous detail and texture!
I always love the moment of the day when the bride and groom get to see each other for the first time! It is such a sweet and emotional moment!
Such a cute family!
I love how Heather decided to incorporate different tones of pinks and golds into the bridesmaid’s dresses! It added so much!
It is always fun to see how a bride and groom will incorporate their personalities into a wedding ceremony. Chance and Heather choose to do a “unity beer” instead of the traditional unity candle. Bemidji Brew provided two distinct beers that Heather and Chance choose to mix together. It was such a creative idea that fit them so well!
I love PINK! Especially pink weddings!
Congratulations, Heather and Chance!

It is always such an honor to be asked to photograph a wedding for the same family again, especially one as awesome as the Reise’s! Mitch and Rachel’s beautiful wedding day started at his mom’s house. I remember their home being gorgeous when I photographed Mitch’s sister’s wedding there a few years back. Their mom is a master gardener and has the most beautiful landscaping and flowers! It is a photographer’s dream for a wedding!
The image below is Rachel reading a letter from Mitch moments before they were to see each other for the first time. I love how you can see him waiting for her outside.
Many times the bride and groom say their favorite part of the day is the first time they see each other. This was true for Rachel. She said,
“My favorite moment from the wedding was the first look. I felt like there were so many things going on the day of the wedding but in that moment it really hit me that we would be spending the rest of our lives together.”
I could not have asked for better weather for their wedding! The overcast skies gave us amazing lighting for pictures on the lake! It was so romantic!
And there was even a daisy field! Seriously, it could not have been a better day!
Time for the breathtaking golden hour pictures! S*T*U*N*N*I*N*G!
Rachel and Mitch, thank you for giving me such a beautiful and sweet day to photograph! You two and your families are such a pleasure to be around! I’m so excited for you to see the rest of your images!

I have another beautiful lake wedding to share with you! Kaitlyn and Dylan’s special day was spent at the Tin Cabin located on Garfield Lake in Laporte. It is always fun to explore new areas for photography opportunities, and this area did not disappoint! I love the variety of backgrounds it offered for all the pictures!
Losing a loved one is heartbreaking, and even more so during such pivotal events like weddings. Kaitlyn’s dad was not able to be at her wedding, but I love how she honored him during the ceremony. Even though he wasn’t able to be there in person, he was there in heart.
About 90% of my brides and grooms choose to see each other before the ceremony. It gives them a sweet and intimate moment to be together during their busy day. It also gives us an opportunity to get all the pictures done so they can jump right into celebrating with their friends and family after the ceremony. Kaitlyn and Dylan choose to do something special for their First Look. They wrote each other love letters and read them before turning to see each other for the first time. It was such a romantic idea, and I loved the look on Dylan’s face when he saw his beautiful bride for the first time!
I hope I’m not overwhelming you with pictures of the bride and groom! I just had such a hard time narrowing down my favorites!
It is special when you can find someone you know well to officiate your ceremony. It adds a sweet and personal touch. That was the case for Kaitlyn and Dylan. In fact, their officiant knew them so well that he told them that they couldn’t use traditional vows. They had to write their own because, “You’re both too creative; I want to see what you come up with on your own.” That was a great idea!
On my way to the wedding I found a daisy field close to the ceremony location. I was so excited that Kaitlyn and Dylan were up for going to it for a few more pictures after their ceremony! I think I love these images of them the most. (Hence the reason that I’m posting so many.)
Kaitlyn and Dylan, you two are awesome. I love that you drove all the way up from Kansas for your engagement pictures and then again for your wedding! I’m thankful for the opportunity I had to spend time with you, and I wish you the best!

Kiah and Logan’s wedding day was a great way to kick off summer! These two are unbelievably sweet and were a blast to be around all day! Their love for each other is evident in everything they do.
They say it is lucky to have rain on a wedding day, right? Well it worked out perfectly for Kiah and Logan’s day! The rain we had provided beautifully diffused light for pictures throughout the day and brought out all the vibrant colors in their details.
Natural Pleasures Floral in Frazee did a fabulous job designing and creating Kiah’s bouquet! It was perfect!
One of my favorite moments of the day was the first look with Logan. I had felt so nervous all day, but once I saw him I immediately felt better. I knew in that moment that it didn’t matter how things went the rest of the day because everything was still going to end up perfect. ~Kiah
I love how Kiah had her name and wedding day stitched into her dress with blue thread.
The varied shades of purple in the bouquets and bridal party attire added so much personality and character.
This bridal party definitely knows how to have fun together!
Talk about a dramatic entrance! Kiah arrived to her wedding ceremony in a pontoon boat!
I can’t get over this cake by Rother’s Just Desserts! The texture and design is amazing! The bride is also a baker and did a fabulous job on the cupcakes and macarons. So much talent from these two!
Kiah’s family did all the decorating for their wedding. They incorporated a lot of fun and unique ideas. Their guest book was a beautiful wall art piece that guests could sign the leaves on. One of my favorite design ideas was the ladder over the head table.
I love when my brides and grooms let me sneak them away from their reception for a few more romantic images during sunset. Kiah and Logan were champs at this! They didn’t let the rain or wet boat hold them back! Now they will have these images to cherish for forever!
This group knows how to have fun! They were all over the dance floor! Kiah also accomplished her dream of having her bridal party do the “Thriller” dance at the reception! It was great!
Kiah and Logan, thank you for choosing me to be your photographer. It was an unforgettable day, and I loved working with both of you every step of the way! You make such a sweet couple! Congratulations on your beautiful day!
