I’ve had the best seniors this year! Well, I seem to have them every year! True story. I’ve been especially excited to show off the beautiful Miss Kaitlyn! She wanted to make the session and experience really special so she had her hair and makeup done by Heidi Walberg at Salon Sashay. Heidi did a fabulous job as always! Kaitlyn looked stunning! We decided to do her session at Itasca State Park. There were so many beautiful locations there, and we were able to photograph her in several outfits. All of her outfits were fun. She choose different looks and colors for all of them. It is always a good idea to pick out outfits that are different so your images aren’t all the same. I especially liked the big belt with all the bling that she wore with her blue plaid shirt. Thank you, Kaitlyn and Heidi, for letting me document such a special time in your life! I hope I made it hard to choose your favorites! 😉
Are you ready to hear the most exciting news of the year and possibly of my entire photography career! Here it is!
My work has been published in The Knot! Minnesota’s #1 Wedding Magazine!
Last night as I was sitting with my family a knock came at the door. My husband answered and came back with a brown envelope. I caught a glimpse of “The Knot” on the packaging and very crazily and very carefully ripped it open! Ha! I quickly pulled out a magazine and flipped to the 4 pages that featured one of my weddings! I’m still in shock, and panic, and heart attack mode as I type! Shocked that Bemidji could make it into such a prestigious magazine, panicked that they might change their mind even though they’ve already printed it, and heart attack because the excitement is almost too much to take!
The featured wedding that was chosen was Samantha and Drew’s from this last August. Samantha Baker and her mom Deb Welle put together one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever seen along with the help of so many awesome vendors. Speaking of awesome vendors, here’s another shout out to them!

Throughout this entire process I cannot stop thanking the Lord. It is very difficult to make it into such a high end publication, especially since we are from a small town and none of us advertise in the magazine. I cannot deny that God deserves ALL the thanks especially with how everything came together so perfectly. He has been my source of creativity, knowledge and blessing. I know that any success I have is completely because of Him and completely from Him! Thank you, Jesus!!!
Samantha and Drew, I love you guys! Thank you for letting me be your photographer and for letting me be a part of your beautiful day!
BTW – If you want a copy of this publication it will be in stores soon! I have a feeling we’re going to deplete the Bemidji supply quickly!
This wedding day started with rain…a lot of rain. The kind that drenches you within seconds of standing in it. This normally wouldn’t matter, but Nikki and Trevor had a beautiful outdoor ceremony that they were planning on for months, and everyone was hopeful that the rain would end before it was too late.
Thankfully the dark skies cleared up to let the beautiful sunshine in! It gave us just enough time for some outdoor photos and for the ceremony area to be set up. The ceremony took place on the beautiful Leech Lake!
I loved Nikki’s attention to detail. She had a lot of fun and creative ideas to implement into her wedding. For example, instead of a traditional candle lighting, they decided to do a balloon release. It was so cool!
The celebrating continued into the evening at the Tianna Country Club. The entertainement was Billy D And the Crystals.
It was such a lovely day. Congratulations, Nikki and Trevor! Thank you for letting Purrington Photography capture your special memories!

This shoot is a great reminder to me of why I LOVE doing on location shoots! People have the funnest stuff in their homes! I could tell the instant I drove up to their house that it was going to be a unique and fun and beautiful newborn shoot. I was right. The painting you see in some of the photos was one that the dad actually painted. I was so impressed. This couple had such an eye for decorating. They were also super sweet. The dad even showed me the play set he got up before the new baby came. It was his way of “nesting”. 🙂 I loved it so much that we went and got the same one for our little guy who just turned 2 in June!
I am so excited to announce that I have successfully had my first twin newborn session! I’m stoked! The little guys slept great, they posed beautifully and they didn’t poop on anything! It was one of my shortest newborn sessions too. I was expecting it to be so much harder considering there were two babies, but it went great. Praise the Lord!
For those of you not familiar with newborn photos, they can be some of the most difficult when you are post processing. Their skin tones are usually really red or really yellow, and they usually have flaky skin. These twins were identical, and one was actually quite a bit more yellow than the other. I’m still learning how to do all of this, but I think I got them to match in most of the photos. They were so sweet! I had a hard time telling them apart, but mom knew!
Sometimes I wish I could just sit and hold them for the entire session, but I know I’m there to get photos. I shouldn’t complain. I usually have little brief moments of baby cuddling in between poses. 🙂 Hope you enjoy the photos of these beautiful boys! OHHHHHH!!! I just want to kiss those little cheeks!!!
