Mollie & Carl – Pumpkin Seed Farm in Bemidji Wedding

I’m so excited to share this wedding with you!  It is the first MORNING wedding I have ever photographed, and I loved it!  The bride and groom decided to get married on a Sunday morning and celebrated with their family and friends over a fun themed brunch afterwards!  This opened up a world of fun ideas and opportunities for details that you normally don’t see at weddings.

One of my favorite details was the wedding favors.  They were cute coffee mugs that Mollie’s mom and aunt had collected over the year.  The guests could choose any mug they wanted.  Some had Bible verses, some had jokes, some said Bemidji, MN.  There was such a fun variety.  After the guest picked out their mug they could take it over to the coffee station and fill it up and enjoy a fresh brew.  Mollie and Carl had fun seeing all the cups that each guest had chosen.

Another great detail that took a lot of time and heart was the table decorations.  Mollie’s grandmother is a collector of salt and pepper shakers.  After Mollie and Carl had made the seating chart for the reception, they picked out salt and pepper shakers that would identify with the people at each of the tables.  Nothing like a fun salt and pepper shaker to use on your yummy brunch!

These two have such a sweet and special story.  They are madly in love with each other but mostly with Jesus Christ.  It showed in everything throughout their day.  It was such an honor to be a part of their day and to spend time with them.  Such a beautiful couple on the inside and out!

As always, here’s a huge shout out to all of the vendors that helped make this event so awesome!

Bridesmaid Dresses: All over the place. They had the option of choosing their own because all 8 of my bridesmaids are so different. So my environmentalist friend chose her dress that was made out of biodegradable material from a non-profit organization, while my high class friend with expensive taste chose a long, elegant dress. As long as they were all dark midnight navy blue, I wanted them to choose something that made them feel beautiful. Because I had such different personalities, no dress was exactly the same.

Heather and Zach’s Walker Wedding at Bluewater Lodge

Heather and Zach met their freshman year of college.  They were paired up as chemistry lab partners without realizing just how much chemistry they would have!  HA!  I love it!

It wasn’t too many years later that they were saying their “I dos” in the beautiful town of Walker MN.   And guess what?  Heather’s parents were married almost exactly 30 years before at the same church with the same officiant!  How cool is that!

Besides being huge sports fans, Heather and Zach also share a love for travel.  They love to experience new locations, new food and new cultures.  They decided to incorporate this love into all of their wedding details.  You’ll see what I mean as you as you browse through their images below.  There were many special touches they added to their event to make it personal and fun.

Heather and Zach, you two are an absolute blast to be around!  Thank you for choosing Purrington Photography to be a part of your day!

Also, a huge thank you to all the vendors that helped make their day amazing!  Here is what Heather had to say about all of you: “I could not have asked for a better day. Every part had it’s own touch that made it so special. All of the people that were hired to help in each way played their part perfectly. Catering, decorating, organizing, and every other thing imaginable was handled just the way I had hoped. I am so thankful for everyone that played a part no matter how big or small.”

Heather and Zach’s testimonial for Purrington Photography:

“I cannot express how thrilled I am to have had Kristen and her team with us on our special day. From day one while meeting her I knew she was going to be perfect. Her enthusiasm showed how much passion she truly has for her job. From our beginning consult to planning our schedule for the wedding day all the way to the sunset photos at the very end, I could not have asked for anything more. On our wedding day, Kristen made sure to stick to time and if I was having trouble making a decision on a photo pose or place to take one, she would help make that decision much easier with her suggestions. Both photographers were FUN to have around. They weren’t just bystanders, they were PART of the group 🙂 This makes everyone so much more comfortable and therefore makes it easier to be comfortable for pictures. The men also enjoyed all of their fun pictures. She made each one of those “tough guys” enjoy all the silly candid pictures as well. Overall I couldn’t have asked for a better day and with that a better photographer than Kristen and her team. 10 out of 10 for sure! There is no one that I would recommend more. Pictures were the most important thing on my list as far as what I was taking away from wedding. I trusted 110% that Purrington Photography would deliver. I was in no way disappointed and would love to have her shoot my family portraits someday. Thanks so much Kristen and team!!” -Heather and Zach

Lindsay and Joe – Russian Village Wedding at Concordia

Concordia Language Villages is always such a beautiful place to visit.  Each village is surrounded by the beauty of Northern Minnesota.  It is never difficult to find a pretty spot for pictures with all of the majestic trees and lush vegetation everywhere.

I had the honor of photographing Lindsay and Joe’s amazing wedding at the Russian Language Village.  This is the first event I’ve covered at this particular village, and I was not disappointed.  Not only are Lindsay and Joe full of character, but so is the lovely location they chose to start the rest of their lives together at.  You’ll see what I mean as you stroll through their gorgeous day below.

Lea & Jonathan – A Bemidji Winter Engagement

Check out this fun winter engagement session!  We had plenty of snow and creative props!  Lea and Jonathan rocked their pictures, especially considering they made their way from sunny California for them.  The weather here in Bemidji warmed up to a toasty 19 degrees for us.  Even though they were shivering under their coats, you can’t even tell in the photos below.  Such troopers!

Lindsey & Mohammad

Lindsey and Mohammad’s wedding is ready to share!  One of my favorite things about this wedding, besides the really sweet bride and groom, was that Panache decorated the entire wedding in pink and sparkles!  Pink and sparkles are pretty much my favorite things…ever…

One of Lindsey’s favorite things from her special day was the Persian table.  Make sure to check it out below!  It was so creative and beautiful!

Angela and Sanjog – Northern MN Wedding Photographer

It’s so mind blowing when two people from opposite sides of the world find each other.  Angela, my bride, is from our little area of Northern Minnesota.  Sanjog, the groom, is all the way from Nepal.  Even though they are from two different worlds they still made their way to the same one.

It was exciting to see how Angela and Sanjog interlaced their different cultures and ideas into their wedding.  In many ways it was a traditional American wedding with pops of the colorful Nepal traditions.  The bride wore a beautiful white wedding dress, but her bridesmaids were adorned in bright pink sarees.  At the reception they also brought in a talented Henna artist to adorn the guests with henna tattoos.  Another Nepal tradition they incorporated were origami lotus flowers with thank you notes rolled inside.

Overall it was a beautiful wedding surrounded by friends and family.  Thank you, Angela and Sanjog for choosing me to photograph such a special day!
