Congratulations, Erin and Dwayne!!!  I am so excited to meet you and take photos of your beautiful family!  What a contest this was!  PLEASE read their submission if you have a chance.  It is one of the most moving and emotional submissions yet!

“Hi! My name is Erin. I have been married to my husband, Dwayne, for almost 11 years. We have 3 wonderful kids. Sabin 7, Cullen 5, and Camdyn 2. Today, March 13, we found out that Dwayne has an incurable form of pancreatic cancer. It has been a couple of years since our last family photo shoot. We are hoping to have some family pictures done before he is too sick. We want to make so many memories in our time left together.”

Wow!  I was in tears when I read this, and I’m even fighting tears back now!  What a precious family going through something so unimaginable!  I was hoping they would win and decided if for some reason they didn’t I would donate a session to them as a gift.  I was so amazed as other participants in the contest actually started asking people not to vote for themselves, but to vote for Erin and Dwayne.  What a loving thing to do!!!  Thank you, everyone!

As a way of saying thank you to all the contestants for being so awesome, I will be gifting TWO sessions away!  The second session will go to Tanya Goosen, the runner up.  She actually e-mailed me and requested to be taken out of the contest after seeing Dwayne and Erin’s story.  She wrote,  “I couldn’t imagine winning when somebody is going through a much LARGER life change than we are!!!”  Hope you don’t mind me putting that on here, Tanya, but it was such a sweet thing for you to do!

Erin and Dwayne – I am SO excited to meet you and to take pictures of your family!  This is going to be such a special shoot!  You won a $300 session, but I would actually like to give you more if that’s okay.  I can tell you all about it and the really fun ideas I have for you!  I can’t wait to hear about your ideas are too!  You said you want to make many memories in your time left together, and I want to be there to photograph them!

One more thing before I sign off – I’m honored to be able to be a participant of several non-profit organizations that donate sessions to children with illnesses and diseases: NILMDTS, Inspiration Through Art, Tiny Sparrow Foundation.  If you know of anyone that could benefit from one of these photo sessions, please tell them to look up these awesome organizations.  They are a great way to connect families in need with photographers who want to give back.

I know any talent, ability, creativity, knowledge and equipment I have is a result of the Lord’s blessings, and in return I want to bless others.  Thank you, friends!

Bemidji Newborn Photographer – Baby Oliver

Loved the lil bundle of sunshine I got to photograph during this rainy day!  It was so fun to try out some new ideas in this gorgeous home.  Every corner seemed to be the perfect spot to photograph this beautiful newborn.

Note that the photos taken in the bookshelf are composites.  Oliver’s mom safely held him the entire time.  🙂

Get dolled up for your photoshoot!

Who is the first person you look for in a photograph?  C’mon.  Be honest.  You know it’s yourself.  How do I know?  Because I’m the same way!  We all are!

When I look at photos of myself I rate them on a scale of FRAME IT to DESTROY IT FAST SO IT CAN’T BE USED AS BLACKMAIL!  Photos are permanent documents reflecting who we are.  We all want to look our best in them.

I am a firm believer that everyone I photograph is beautiful.  My goal as a photographer is to capture that.  I want to show your beauty.  I want to show the world what I see in you.

Why am I talking about this?  Because it’s all leading up to a fun new announcement I have.  I am now offering the option of having your hair and makeup done for your session.  Not only does having your hair and makeup done help accent your beauty, but it’s also really fun.  I love seeing women being pampered and feeling beautiful.  Their photos show more confidence and less nervousness.  It also adds a little “wowzers”.

So, with that, meet Kaalene.  She is my amazing hair and makeup girl!  She is also a lot of fun to have around and will probably be the one dolling you up if you choose to get this fun add-on to your portrait session.  Look below to see her in action and some of her results!

NOW!  For the SUPER fun part!  Kaalene also does really fun hair and makeup for those extra fun shoots!  (I think I used the word fun too much in those sentences, but it really is all about fun!)  Check out how she transformed Ashley!  We got amazing photos from this shoot that are so unique and gorgeous!

One of the most amazing things about this great option is the price.  To have a professional come on location to do your hair and makeup is only $75!  Check out the details below.

1 Hair and Makeup Makeover – $75

2 Hair and Makeup Makeovers – $60 per person

3+ Hair and Makeup Makeovers – $50 per person

A la carte Hair – $50

A la carte Makeup – $30

Between you, me and Kaalene we are going to have such amazing photos.  I bet they’ll even have a “FRAME IT” rating if you’re using my scale!

Bemidji State Park Family Photographer

I got to meet this super nice couple at the Wedding Expo at the Sanford Center this winter.  It was fun to see them again and to photograph them with their adorable little girl, Henley.  Kara planned a fun little summer dress with cowgirl boots for Henley.  We were crossing our fingers that she would wear them, because she didn’t like them very much.  We were so excited when it all worked out!  The combination of Henley and her boots was almost too much cuteness!  I even brought some flowers from my own garden for her to play with during the shoot.  Worked perfectly!  What a great night!

Bemidji Newborn and Toddler Photos – Reese and Benjamin

I was so excited when Melissa called me up to let me know she was expecting!  I had photographed her little boy the previous year, and now I was going to get to photograph her little man again and also her new little baby girl!

Benjamin is a very tender and sweet little boy.  He’s also full of energy!  I remember the first time I photographed him I spent the entire session running to get ahead of him.  Well, not much has changed since then, except he’s faster…and I’m not.  Let’s just say it was a good workout!  Definitely worth it to capture his cuteness!

His new little sister was a treasure!  Melissa had an adorable little set of butterfly wings and headpiece for one of our setups.  I aboslutely loved it!  I also got to try out some new little girl props.  I’m so excited with the photos we got from her session.  She was absolutely precious and gorgeous!  What a fun afternoon!

Nadja – Bemidji Newborn Photos

I love this family!  I’ve had the privilege to photograph both of their daughters several times already, so I was ecstatic when Nicole announced they had a new addition on the way!  We put together a special “Baby’s First Year Collection” just for their new little girl on the way.

When baby Nadja arrived I had so much fun taking her photos.  She is a little pricess.  Her mom wanted to incorporate the “Princess and the Pea” theme which is one of my favorite ideas yet!  Nadja was the perfect little model!  I feel so blessed to be involved in a little part of her life.  I get to document her major milestones (birth, holding head up, sitting up, and walking).  I also get to look forward to the ones awaiting her.
